Everyplace says '...and just tip the Matradee' What do you tip him?
Also our pastor said he has no charge to marry us, but we would like to offer him an 'honorarium' Since he is giving us his whole friday morning and had done so much for us through the years. I was quoted $400 for a clergy person (in the event we didn't have anybody) to marry us at Fox Hollow. Does that sound appropiate? What are you paying your offciant?

Re: What do you tip the MD & pay clergy
Usually the maitre'd gets $3-5 pp. We gave ours $400 for 100 guests. I'm not sure about your clergyman...we had an interfaith officiant who charged a fee for her services. IMHO though, $400 sounds like a lot...not sure what to advise you on this one, sorry!!

maitre'd they say to tip anywhere from $2-5 per person. Its up to you and what you feel comfortable with.
I got married in a church, and we paid a church fee that had the officiant fee included. We did have to give a $600 donation to the church though. Sorry have no regarding your situation

Giorgio's tells us to pay $450 -- a flat fee. I think this is reasonable as we will have around 225 people, so it's $2 pp. My sister got married at Jericho Terrace and they 'recommended' $4 pp...which is nearly $1000! Considering you pay 20-22% in gratutity...I think it's a bit crazy to pay the MD another $1000 on top of that! I need to look into a new career...I'd like to make that much for 4 hrs of work : )

they dont keep the whole thing to themselves though. My maitre'd had to split it with the banquet manager that i had booked with and worked with during the planning. Plus the 20% gratuity doesnt go to the maitre'd.
Some halls they say they split the tip not only with the banquet manager, but cook, or waitstaff. Not sure which ones.

I think we will tip $4 a head, that seems fair. As for our pastor, I only had that price in my head because Fox hollow told us they pay there 'wedding officiant'. whoever he may be $400. I think my pastor will refuse to except money from us or ask us to donate that money to a charity. I agree it sounds like alot.
