Re: What does a DOC do?
I'm having the ceremony and reception at the same place but I'm still getting a DOC. They basically make sure everything and everyone is where their supposed to be and doing what their supposed to do. Their with you from the very beginning basically doing everything you cant do to make sure everything runs smoothly.

Re: What does a DOC do?
It's not a bad idea to have one if you can swing it. I didn't and in hind sight I should have. I know I had a bridal attendant but the DOC would have been better.
Some examples...
My mom's hem came down on her gown so there I was on my knees pinning it up. A DOC would take care of that.
I didn't bustle my train for pictures and our first dance (the way I wanted to, but was talked out of) so instead I have pictures of my petticoat sticking out of my gown b/c the train was not long enough to go over my arm... A DOC would have stood by my original wishes or would have told me to let go of the train b/c my petticoat is completely sticking out. Because of that, I don't have a single good length-wise picture of me and DH dancing our first dance.
A DOC is just a good third party individual who is there to make sure every aspect of your day is PERFECT. Not that I don't think my day was perfect, it's just that there are somethings I wish I could have avoided.

Re: What does a DOC do?
We have been considering it, but honestly we are already overbudget on the extras (a lot!) so I don't think we'll be able to swing it
It's amazing how much the little things add up to!!!
