I saw a DJ last nite who my FSIL recommended because they did her wedding and they were great. Not a common one used out there...at least I had never heard of them. Well, after meeting with him, the cost was above our budget and I couldnt believe how much was wanted for the DJ,MC, light show and percussionist. I so would love to use the DH we saw last nite so I hope that he can work with me. I am well aware of Body Rock and Starlight Express and have seen their work so I may have to seek out to them as well. Can anyone share what they are spending? I might be bugging out for nothing! I hate budgets!!

its really hard going by budget when everything costs an arm and a leg. everyones base price starts at 1400 to 1500 or so then when you add props and lights and instumental people you add to the price. i was lucky to know people who do our company christmas party. so we got a good deal. defenatley ask family or friends. if they refere you they may give you a discount. we went with music on the move. try perfectpartiesonline.com or dynamicbeat.com. good luck!!!

My DJ, Mike D. from L&S Entertainment was excellent and was under $1000 for a basic package - one DJ, no MC, no lights or giveaways. They have larger packages, and the prices go up from what we paid, but there are DJs out there who charge less than what some of the 'wedding DJs' charge.

Everything that I have seen so far starts at around $900 for basic package and goes up from there.

I am using Ralph from Hi-Energy and he is $1000 for 4 hours DJ and MC basic Lights and give aways. His prices are on his website.

I am not using a DJ but two people I know are and they are spending close to $1800 but they got alot of extras. Did you look at Tommy Tunes--they come highly recommended and I have seen them and they were great and they have the percussionist too.

Ours (Starlight Express) is just under $1800 for ceremony, CH, and reception. That's without a light show--just DJ & MC. I was surprised at the prices as well.

FI is a DJ and the company that he works for charges about $1,400 for a basic wedding package, although I couldn't tell you what is included in that since FI is not one of the DJ that do weddings.

Grab a copy of the WeddingPages, there's a great article about the cost of JDs, you get what you pay for, what to ask, etc. I think you will find it very informative.

The DJ we are using is $1975 but he comes with a live singer and an MC.
