I keep reading something about sending invites and 'hand cancel'. what does this mean?

Re: What does hand cancel mean?
it means the post office clerk hand stamps your envelopes rather than your envelope going through a machine. That way it won't get bent, ripped, or stained with ink.

DEFINITELY GET YOUR INVITATIONS HAND CANCELED!!! The place where I ordered mine from showed me a sample of someone's invitations that weren't hand canceled and they were totally ruined!!

i brought all mine to the post office or gave them to my mail man and they were all fine! yeah a few of my RSVPs that came back had a faint black mark from the machine but i wasnt worried about them....everyone got them in 1 piece.....if you have a thicker invite or maybe something with a bow on it i would try to get it hand cancelled so it doesnt break or poke thru the envelope when it goes thru the mackine........if its a plain invite then i wouldnt worry to much about it....its just the envelope people will just toss it

Well, that's a doggone shame!!!!! I think I would shown that to the PO, and remind them of their word to hand cancel. Mary MOB
