Trying to come up with ideas to put in a gift basket for my parents of things that represent MAINE, since our thank you gift to them for the wedding is going WITH them to Maine and treatingn them to the vacation next year.
I already have the pamphlet of the bed and breakfast we'd stay at.
A bottle of Poland Spring Water.
and, uh... yeah, that's pretty much it! lol.
Anything else you can think of that screams MAINE or Kennebunkport to put in a basket? (my mom will be terrified if I put a live lobster in there. lol)

I don't really have anything for ya...lol i was just laughing at the idea of a live lobster in a basket!
How about a stuffed animal in the shape of a lobster....
Other Maine thing....pine tree state (eastern white pine), lighthouse (portland), blueberries, clamming, puffins, seals,
Try visiting the State of Maine's web site to get some other general ideas.

ehh, don't be too impressed melissa! i just happen to have been to maine b/c my dad liked to take the family to odd places when we were young. while everyone else was in disney i was on a fantastic voyage beginning in: bar harbor, maine then onto quebec and the finale: nova scotia!! wow!! let me tell you how exciting that was as a 10 year old lol but besides that i also happen to have a lot of useless knowledge about the president and his family... come to think of it, i have a lot of useless knowledge in general.
i still remember things from the bus tour we took in maine (through their state park)... how long island was formed by a glacier, where the hope diamond came from, randy johnson's nick-name... USELESS CRAP!!!

When we went to Maine a few summers ago, they were all about the blueberries. Farmers markets selling blueberries on the side of the road, blueberry ice cream, blueberry pancakes, blueberry syrup... if you're doing a summer wedding, include Blueberry stuff!

oh geez---i have seen them before and of course when you need them they are never there. i would try a pet store believe it or not-- i think i recall recently seeing a lot of different chew stuffed animals for dogs and i remember seeing crabs and lobsters!! other than that, little gift shops in towns near the water like port jeff or northport-- they should have them.
