What does the ultrascreen cover?

What do they check for and what exactly do they do? Draw blood? Urine sample?

I was told to drink 16oz of water immediately before the test.... why is that?

The US screens for Downs. They do a sono or the baby and measure the skin fold on the back of the neck and they also do a finger prick. Im not sure why you have to drink the water I didnt but it could be to push the baby up in your abdomen.

I had to drink the water. When the baby is still tiny sometimes a full bladder helps the technician see the baby better.
