Hey guys. Just curious. Besides planning the shower and bachelorette party, are the bridesmaids supposed to help you with the wedding planning and preparation too?? Such as helping to find vendors, prepare favors, etc. I really don't know these things and I'm a little frustrated because my bm's are always sooooooo busy with school and work and family that I haven't been able to speak to them all at one time for more than 2 months now. Thanks.

When I was a BM I didn't do much of anything except plan the shower and b-party. I'm not expecting any of my BMs to do more since the majority live OOT and FH & I can do everything else with our families if we need help.

I don't really think they are supposed to do much of anything aside from give support to the Bride on the wedding day. I didn't expect my girls to do anything wedding related -- I'm kind of a control freak so I wanted to do it on my own. The only thing I wanted them to do was plan the bachelorette party which they did.
If you really need help with something why not just ask them?

I guess they're doing enought just giving me support and stuff. I asked them to do a few things, like help me find some vendors in their area for specific things, but that was it. I guess that I feel bad to ask them to do stuff since they are so busy themselves. I was just never a bm so I don't know what's the 'norm' for them to do. Thanks girls!!

i think that the FH should be helping with planning the wedding not the BM's thats JMO - ive heard of FHs taht dont want to help with planning but that doesnt make any sense to me ......BMs can help with the bachorlette party and the shower - but besides that i dont see anything else they should be doing.....of course if you ask for their help they should give it - but to me that goes for any friend or family member that you asked for help - not just a bridesmaid

One of mine did too! I was surprised but happy! She came dress shopping with me (to most appointments), she and my MOH picked out the BM dresses, and she even came over the night before my e-party to help me glue bows on the favors. She's the best!
Another BM came with me when i ordered my dress and MOB dress hunting one time.
My BMs came a half hour early and helped with very minor set-up for my e-party. I did ask them to do that, but I don't consider it a big deal.
I'm assuming from this point my BMs will hopefully plan a shower, a bachelorette party, and will come to the rehearsal dinner, etc.
