Is it a robe or a nightgown? Am I spelling it correctly? I'm writing my TY notes from my shower and someone wrote 'penoir' on my list, but I can't find that word anywhere for the exact spelling and definition! Thanks!

Re: What exactly is a penoir?
It is either a babydoll type of lingerie or the outer robe - I'm not sure which. I checked both VS and Fredericks online and niether one used that term.
Just write 'thank you for the lingerie!!'

Re: What exactly is a penoir?
I found the correct spelling on dictionary.com
pei·gnoir:
1) A woman's loose-fitting dressing gown
2)A woman's loose dressing sack; hence, a loose morning gown or wrapper.
3) a loose dressing gown for women [syn: negligee, neglige, wrapper, housecoat
Thanks for your help!

Re: What exactly is a penoir?
I have to thank DH's grandmother for giving me one for my shower and she is so proper that I'm nervous about writing this note. I want to make sure I'm thanking you for the correct thing. If I thank her for the nightie and robe, she will call me up and inform me that it's a 'peignoir.'

Re: What exactly is a penoir?
My husband is making me tell you that he knew exactly what a peignoir was and some of us didn't. He says that this proves that he is a great guy!
Second question: How do you deflate the ego of a man?
