Does anyone know yet? And if your hall is not providing for you, where will you get it? My hall is providing, but I don't like their baker!

this sounds soooooo good. i want chocolate cake with white frosting. my favorite cake is red velvet but i don't think that would be a big hit

No seriously though, I want it to be as simple as possible. Probably chocolate something. We haven't reached the point yet where we need to decide. FH and I are not fans of bakery cakes at all - the kinds with the fruit or other weird fillings in the middle.
i feel the same way, so its going to be hard to pick out a cake that we will both like
fh even asked me if we could have an ice cream wedding cake....lol
Mine would love a Carvel ice cream cake too! So I am having that as a groom's cake for him at the rehearsal..

We are having yellow cake with rasberrry mousse and chocolate mousse filling and rolled fondant icing. I really wanted a chocolate cake but since we are having the chocolate fountain we thought it might be too much chocolate.

All I know is, I want a dessert lover's cake. Definitely chocolate, not the usual white wedding cake for us.
this was my thing...I want a CAKE to have a good cake...not a wedding cake that tastes ok...I want my cake to blow people AWAY!
I haven't been there but I hear that the Cupcake cafe in NYC has the best cakes- they look amazing on their site and TV and I have a dessert loving friend who loves their cupcakes. They have a web site too....I would have gone there but my hall provides one. I also like the cakes from the Buttercooky in Floral Park.
We went with swirled angel and devil food cake and a layer of choc pudding and vanilla custard. It's a good match for FH and I!
One note to those doing things with almonds and other nuts- esp if they are mixed in a way that you can't tell they are in there....make your guests aware of the ingrediants b/c I have a friend who is HIGHLY allergic to nuts and even TOUCHING them will make him break out. It's a deadly allergy so I'm watching that with our menu. If they aren't clearly in the cake someone might miss it. (sounds yummy to me tho!)
