What furniture lines....

What furniture lines....

carry that shabby chic or french vintage/country french look? I have purchased a lot of furniture from Domain already. But I would like to look elsewhere.

In particular, I am looking for nightstands for my bed. I don't want to buy the matching ones.

I think I saw some furniture in that style at Ethan Allen. My current favorite furniture place is William Sonoma Home. (wshome.com.) It is only on line at this point but it has some gorgeous stuff. I really don't think it contains any furniture in that country french style though.

I saw a WS catalog and everything seemed really expensive. I have to check it out again.

It's very expensive. I was just going to use one living room displayed in it as an 'inspiration' room and try to find cheaper knock offs...but I lost patience with looking so my husband bought me the set for Valentine's Day. (huge surprise!! :) )Haven't received it yet though and am a bit nervous since there is no store to actually see it. But, my friend is an interior designer and she had heard good things and said the set would really complement my formal LR.

i was there this weekend. it is HUGE. however, i was not at ALL impressed w/ any of the furniture.

check out Route 110 Home Furnishing Galleries. they have some really nice peices. you might also want to visit antique stores or peter andews.

There's Lillian August. She has showrooms up in CT which aren't too far away. Other furniture retailers carry her pieces as well, like Classic Galleries in Huntington.

Drexel Heritage is another company worth checking out. (Lillian August is doing a couple of lines for them as well.)

You should also check out antique dealers.

Try Peter Andrews on Jericho Tpke. in Huntington. My friends got their bedroom set there, and the bed is very similar to yours.

I have you ever tried Brandon's. It is an import store located behind Century 21 off of Old Country Road. It can be hit or miss but we found a great hand painted coffee table there to match out couch from Domain.

A second vote for Brandons. Also, try antique stores.

I agree Peter Andrews has great stuff. They also have a warehouse on Smith Street off 110 in Melville. This is great if you are looking for peices. They are marked down and you go to their warehouse and pick them up. The good thing is you are not getting the floor model which is nice.

Also, if you don't mind online shopping, I have really liked things from Ballard Designs. I get their catalog and ordered a bunch of furniture for our guest BR. Lots of rubbed white furniture and antiquet feel at a fraction of the price.

ABC Carpet and Home. Can get pricey, but they also have a warehouse in DUMBO.
