I have an organist booked so far for my ceremony - would like to add another instrument into the mix. What have you heard that works well - organ with trumpet, organ with a string instrument, woodwind, etc? You'd think I'd know since I'm a musician but I just haven't heard much wedding music!
I used to play the violin at ceremonies... If you want the organ then leave it at that. Don't spend the money on another instrument because the organ will overpower it...even if it is a trumpet! Organs are very loud and do not mix well with other instruments ESPECIALLY strings. If you want the organ it sounds great alone...however don't let your church 'force' you into it. you are not obligated to have an organ. Many brides make that mistake and just go with it. It's all about personal taste. JMO
sounds like good advice - but I think the church has an electric organ, not a pipe organ, so can't the organist just adjust the volume to make the other instruments heard?
We're having trumpeters from Royal Brass - you can listen to them on their website...they sound amazing w/the organ!!!
Yes...IDidn't know it was electric...lol. They can lower the volume and it shouldn't be a problem with another instrument. Just make sure you tell them quite a few times so it's not too loud. Good luck!
