What happened to the post fromthe 'person in the know'
It was here this morning, warning us about reception halls that have 'preferred vendors' and recommended vendors. I think it was actually legit. Was it pulled?!!!

Yeah it was pulled. I can tell you that what the post said was true. Any vedors suggested to you by your hall, pay your hall if you book them. I can't/won't say that's true in all cases, but it happens pretty often.

Yes it does happen. Halls get a comission when they recommend vendors.
I don't see the big deal, I would expect it. I don't think a hall would ever recommend a vendor they didn't have faith in, that would be a poor reflection on both parties. They are both businesses that's just the way it is.

YUP! I don't think they came to the right place to post it. But, it's true in some cases. I drill the vendor recommendations harder than the vendors I find myself!

That's true too! It's kinda like both names are on the line.

I know ALL the vendors PAY the halls to be a 'recommended' vendor. Alot of vendors I have talked to admitted it to me!

Yeah, I don't know why it was pulled.
Anyway, I do like having choices. I think I might have to use Danford's bakery of choice - Rolling Pin. I know nothing about them, maybe they are fine, but it is annoying to think that for like $5 per person, I can't go to any bakery.

I don't think a hall would recommend a vendor they didn't have faith in, either. But, I only think that means that the vendor will show up and do the work. I don't think it attests to the quality of the vendor's work or the vendor's prices. It would probably indicate a higher price since the vendor has an additional expense. So far, I haven't used any of the vendors recommended by my hall. I didn't interview all of them (and am not ruling out interviewing others) but I was pretty disappointed with the ones I did interview. Their work just didn't appeal to me.
Many times, the halls also try to compel you to use their vendors by reducing the cost the charge you for the vendors' meals. I don't think this is fair.
Personally, I think the vendor list was a good place to start. But, obviously, I did not limit myself to those choices.
Although I did not read the previous post, I think it's wrong that it was deleted. Thanks for giving us a summary.

I was surprised it lasted as long as it did. When I read it, there were about 150 views with no responses.
