Ever year there has been a TWOTY and yet the 2012 did not get offered to be a part of it. Nor was then even one mentioned? What happened?!?!! We didn't even get a GTG like the past brides did. Can someone clarify this?
I believe it was cancelled due to Hurricane Sandy

I heard a lot of the vendors who usually participate in this event lost their homes due to sandy and that was a main reason why they canceled the TWOTY! Hopefully next year they will have one...
But they usually have the submission deadline in September/early October. Sandy was towards the end of October. I find it strange as well.
I heard is was 'lack of interest' but idk. It really sucks that there wasn't a TWOTY this year. I was looking forward to it after attending the 2011. I hope there will be one next year.

I never attended one as I didnt get engaged till March of 2012. I was so looking forward to one this year. I dont think it was due to lack of interest because all of the 2013 brides wanted to go. I hope they have one next year so I can go to one. I wish there would have been more communication as least to say this event was cancelled.
Don't worry 2013 girls...i'm sure they will have one for you guys

2013 brides I heard they have a table for newlyweds and since we didnt get a wedding of the year for 2013 maybe they will open it up to us.

I find it hard to believe it was because of Sandy. Last year, the newlyweds had to start submitting entries in September. Nobody could have anticipated Sandy. While the storm may have eventually cancelled it, I have a feeling it was never going to happen anyway.
It really is quite a shame. I know I don't post often, however I attended TWOTY last year and had a great time - I even won an amazing prize! I wish someone would just clear up the confusion and confirm the reason why there wasn't an event this year. The lack of communication is frankly disrespectful to those of us who have supported LIW for a long time.
Just to be a devil's advocate here... and I'm not gonna lie, I was super disappointed that there wasn't a TWOTY this year, but it's not like LIW owes us events or any thing at all. This website is a wonderful (free!) resource to us. The events & contests they host are just the cherry on top.
