Quick question... what would happen if you didnt have the $$$ to make the final payment to the RH (50 %) do they cancel the wedding? or do they let you pay for it after the wedding? Just wondering!

ummm no i believe they can sue you, and they can refuse to provide service to you on your date.

you would be better off taking out a loan and using it to pay off the hall, and then using your gift money to pay off the loan. if the gift money isn't enough (you never know, it might not be) you can work a few months and then pay it off.

They definetely expect payment before the wedding. I used to work for an RH and even if we got a payment the day before the event we would except it only a bank check, money order or cash. I know I have to pay my RH the week before the event the last payment.
They will not hold your event if you are not fully paid.

honestly though, it seems like highway robbery the way they cant just go on a good faith exception.
I could see them being leary if you still owe them 20K but not like a thousand or anything. But Im sure whatever the amount, they will make you pay well in advance.

WHY would they accept a 'good faith exception'??????
Once your wedding is over, they have done their job ... and you have NO reason to want to pay them what is due.
The halls require you to pay them in FULL the week of your wedding ... usually around 3 - 4 days before the event.
If you do not pay, they will CANCEL your event.
Check your contracts, its in there

if the day comes and you can't afford it I would take out a loan..I think a lot of people do that.

An '08 bride put up a post venting that her FH was spending money like crazy and was worried that he wouldnt be able to come up w. 30 K in 7 months. So it got me thinking.... hopefully things work out for them.

They will definitely refuse service. AND i think most places do require the final payment to be made 'CASH, CERTIFIED OR BANK CHECK ONLY' (it says so in my contract lol)
