what happens when you go to city hall and get your marriage license?
is it like a mini ceremony?or do you really just go to a window, pay and get your license
is anyone going to get dressed up/have dinner on this day? i mean we'll be legally married then, right?

i havent gone yet but i think you just go to the window and show them ur ids and then sign the license
and no ur not officially married until you and your officiant signs the license on ur wedding day

from what my friends have told me, you just go up to a window, pay & get the license.
all of my friends went out to dinner then night just them & their fiance to celebrate. it really makes everything official.

No- you are just getting your license that day. You are not legally married until the ceremony. You just pay and get your license. i think you alos have ot wait 24 hrs before you get married

You're not legally married until the officiant signs the stuff. Some of us might technically be married by the RD, I know some officiants sign it then.

yep. you have to wait 24 hours before having the ceremony. you don't need to dress up or what because your just going to the stall, show your IDs and pay. that's it.
on a different note, when FI & i went, i was surprised how many couples were getting married there! some brides are actually wearing a gown! they sell fresh flowers there too (although a bit on the pricey side). haha

You can also do the application online, this way when you go to the clerk's office, you have less to fill out. You sign, show your IDs, pay and go! You are officially married when the officiant signs the license. I'm getting mine on Wednesday!!

hmmm my parents will want us to get dressed up and go out to dinner...they may even want to come...
in peru, couples usually have 2 ceremonies
civil - marriage certificate - couple gets dressed up, there are pics taken, its like a mini wedding (only parents and couple)
religious - traditional church
i dont want to be the only weirdo w/my parents taking pics lolll
