What has been your experience with returns and Fortunoff

What has been your experience with returns and Fortunoff

Long story short. I received a gift from one of my parents friends whose daughter was to have gotten married in 2004. I was at her shower and her mother bought her this hideous clock. Shortly after they called off the wedding. Anyway her mother gave the same clock to me as my shower gift. I think it's bad luck to keep it and I want to return it to Fortunoff. I know that she bought it there because that's where her daughter registered for it.

#1 - It doesn't have the star on it
#2 - They still carry it (I found the item on their website) but it wasn't on my registry

Do you think I'll have a problem returning it? I called their customer service department and the told me the manager of the department makes the decision on whether or not to take it back. Thoughts?

I tried to return something there without the star and they gave me a problem and wouldn't let me return it. They tried looking the person up in the computer, but she wasn't there. So, I would say if they are able to look her up and see that she did purchase it there they will most likely let you return it.

If they don't take it back- goodwill! You really arn't losing anythign by doing this. And I wouldn't want it either! I agree it is a bad omen to keep it.

Goodluck at fortunoffs!

btw- if they called off their wedding, wern't they supposed to return the gifts??

Well I never got the gift I gave her back. But the gift came from her mother. Her mother originally bought it for her and it was stored in the mother house. The mother then proceeded to give it to me.

Add the clock to your registry and then try to return it. Tell them you got it as a gift and you decided you did not like it anymore.

They will check your registry to see if it's on there and was bought.

We received a gift at our shower that was purchased at Fortunoff, we were registered there but that item was not on my registry. My aunt bought us the wrong grill. So we took it back and explained the situation and they exchanged it for store credit. I did not have a receipt. It's worth a try.

OMG. That is one of the RUDEST things I've ever heard. I'm so sorry.

I'd at least try to take it back! Good luck!

I've had only good experiences returning things to Fortunoff. They will take anything back because they can locate any item based on the scanner tag.
