I'm just curious to see how many brides-to-be taste has changed?
When I got engaged I absolutely did NOT want satin bm's dresses. I've been a bm at least 4 times and I was so against them because they wrinkle. I truly thought I wanted flowy chiffon bm dresses and now I'm totally against them & want the satin ones, lol.
Before I even got engaged I said I didn't want the big wedding. I just sent out over 80 save the dates. 80 isn't a lot but in some families there's 5 people and who know's who might bring a date/guest. FH and I have to guarantee 150 guests.
Anyone else having a totally different vision of their wedding now that your planning proccess has begun?

Re: What has changed?
I started planning everything way too soon for my wedding because I was in a rush to get it done. Now that my wedding is 5 weeks away, I am changing a lot of things or questioning certain choices because I feel like my taste has changed just in the last year!

Re: What has changed?
i am 100% happy with everything we have done so far. We picked our RH in March 2010 and started with our plans from there. I went dress shopping immediately but did not order a dress until the last possible minute, just to be certain that i didnt change my mind. I also just finalized the flowers last week so that is something easy to change if your taste does change. Would I have liked my BM in matching dresses; yes...but i wanted them to be comfortable and like what they are spending money on so in the end i am glad they picked out their own dresses that fit into my criteria. I am not in love with my invites, but FH liked them best so let him have something he likes lol. I love all my vendors and wouldnt change any of them!
My best advice for you would be to start looking at things now but dont necessarily order things until the date gets closer if you think you will change your mind.... print out what you like now (photos of dresses, invite samples etc) and look at them every so often to see if your taste changes...if it doesnt then in a few month start ordering everything

Re: What has changed?
We got engaged 2 years ago and planned a destination wedding on the beach almost to the last detail. We got flowers, music, picked colors etc. Now, we're getting married on LI in a month .

Re: What has changed?
Hahahah, I wanted the big white tent wedding before I got engaged. Now my reception is at Chateau Briand next June, lol.
It's really just my bm dresses that has changed. I have until January to find one we all like but the chiffon flowy dress I orginally wanted is definitely out of ? now.
I started looking at invitations, in fact I ordered 2 samples. I'm curious if I'll still want that style next year when I send them out. I love the belly band/pocket fold invitations but then sometimes I wonder if I want something a little more traditional.
Gahhhh...

Re: What has changed?
Everything has changed...We changed our date three times. Could be a fourth soon! Our vision went from small now to big. I think I have to be the most indecisive bride to be! I have ideas of what I want, and then new ideas flush through my mind.
Currently, Fh & I are re-deciding what we are doing. Meeting with one RH next week so hopefully by the end of next week, I will book something. But, my date will be changed.
My color ideas naturally changed, my future wedding song, people in the bridal party, EVERYTHING!!!! I hate this!!!!
Our original plan was a destination wedding but due to my father's health problems that option was out. We do know we will be getting married in the fall or winter. SO that helps =)
Happy planning, right?! LOL

Exactly, Happy Planning, lol.
I was SOOOOOO gung-ho(sp?)about having lavender as my color but now I'm not so sure. I planned a spring wedding because I love the pastel colors but buttercup yellow is really nice too. jlsdfjwoerjowieurowejiwejiwer

Re: What has changed?
I LOVE yellow, especially for the spring time. SO pretty! The pastels could remind me of Easter. But I love pastel purple.
I say do this, put it in a hat and bam your choice has been decided. This is the method I will be doing next LOL

That's so funny because I was dead set on lavender forever (and I have a LONG ways to go!) and I just saw a butter-colored BM's dress and fell in love! Now I want the yellow with lavender accents lol
I'm sure it will change many more times before then though!!

Re: What has changed?
I think that's just the nature of planning.
When FH and I first looked at reception halls online we thought we wanted one place and didn't like it when we were there, and the place we thought we didn't want at all was the place we loved.
First I thought I wanted tea-length, dark eggplant/violet/blue-ish purple BM dresses and wound up with floor length plum dresses http://watters.com/Product/Favorites/866#Colors:plum
Same goes for all the wedding colors. I wanted purples that were more in the violet family, but wound up with lilac flowers on my dress and the BMs dresses. Still pretty, but not exactly what I had envisioned. My biggest fear is that I would end up with Lavender and it would look more like pink...and I just really don't want pink!
And then there was the invitation issue. First we picked out a pretty layered invitation, but the paper we wanted to use for the middle layer couldn't be guaranteed to layout the way we wanted...so we had to switch to a totally different style, that's not layered. But at least it's a bit cheaper.
Plus, when I first got engaged, I thought I'd do my make-up, but then you read about how everyone else gets theirs done, so I thought I would too. But I had one trial and that MUA turned out to be way too much (not to mention that I wasn't totally happy with what she did). So, now I'm back to doing it myself.
And there were also the random things that we said we weren't going to do that we are...Sometimes I feel like the wedding is eating me!

Not that my taste changed - but I know more now. I rushed somethings and probably would have done somethings differently if I knew better.

Re: What has changed?
I was 10000% convinced that the Royalton was going to be our place. Fh and I went online and we were like that's the one.
WELL, were we wrong!!!!!!!! I never in a million years thought I would be getting married at the Cheateau Briand. It was the 1st place we looked and deep down I knew it was the one but we kept looking. The Royalton was 2nd on my list and we pulled up and fh and I knew right away the Royalton wasn't for us.
Ever since I was little I always thought the CB was strictly just for proms. I didn't even want to get out of the truck when we looked at it but OMG I can't wait to get married there now next year, lol.

Re: What has changed?
I'm afraid to even keep planning bc my taste keeps changing...I'm questioning everything lately. I need to really stop though bc things I'm questioning took me weeks to pick out.
I'm sure once it all comes together I'll be happy with all my decisions

Re: What has changed?
I always saw myself in a big ballgown dress like cinderalla, and I ended up with nothing like that. lol. And I always saw myself having a summer wedding and incorporating pink....and ended up with a fall wedding, with darker hues of purple.

Re: What has changed?
this is different... but i went in not really caring about anything and when the time came to book each vendor and make every decision... they were all equally important!
