What has to color coordinate? (ie - invites, bm dresses, etc?)
I'm trying to figure out what is the 'norm' regarding what has to color coordinate. If anyone can help, I'd appreciate it!!
For example: if I picked out a blue bm dress, does that mean the invites should be blue too?
I'm torn between a few different color palette ideas & the whole coordination element is what's holding me back.
Originally I wanted to do champagne BM dresses & champagne invites, etc etc....but I'm getting married in May & I think I might want to do something a bit more colorful instead. Not sure!!
Thanks!!!!!!!!!

If your BM dresses are blue, you can do white or ivory invites with blue ink and blue envelope lining.
You should also speak to your florist about what color flowers will coordinate well with the BM dresses.
Other than that, you don't really need to go too overboard with the color matching

Thanks so much!! I was thinking of that kind of Versailles blue that is in the movie Marie Antoinette...but the only problem was it is sooo hard to find things that are in that shade of blue!! So I didn't want things to be a total mish mosh.
Thanks for your reply!

I drove myself crazy trying to match stuff perfectly! my BM dresses are plum and i was unable to find invites that matched perfectly , so i changed the ink/ribbon to burgandy
It won't be a mish mosh IMO. these minor details only we , the brides , notice . no one will bring the invites to your wedding and then hold them up to the BM dresses and say ' o the dress is versailles blue, and this invite is cornflower blue ' - it took me months to get to that point of acceptance that not everything has to match perfectly!

I matched my green dresses to my ribbon and ink on the invites...My flowers are pink
Now that I think about it, I stressed wayyy too much over matching

my bm dresses are a raspberry color-trust me..not the easiest color to match. But we are using ivory, pale pink, and hints of purple to coordinate. Im trying not to go too matchy matchy-ill drive myself nuts that way

Re: What has to color coordinate? (ie - invites, bm dresses, etc?)
i'm not TOO worried about matching. BM's will be in a deep purple with purple/white flowers.... and I plan to add sage green in places like the church flowers and cake.
I would like to do invites with the sage green, or maybe just plain ivory, they seem to be much cheaper. I'll probably use sage green ribbon in the programs.
My STD's are totally non-matching though- fall colors and leaves on them! But I thought they were cute for October, I designed them myself.
I agree, nobody notices these things except us! I can't remember what any wedding invites looked like that I've received

Re: What has to color coordinate? (ie - invites, bm dresses, etc?)
I am just going with fall colors. My dress will be ivory, the (3) MOHs will be in Burnt Orange, the (4) Bridesmaids will be in Wine, my invitation is chocolate and Bronze, and my mom and his mom will be in either Bronze or Espresso.
I plan on Orange and Wine flowers (there are Burnt Orange Calla Lillies that are gorgeous).
I have attached a pic of my Invitations....BM and MOH dress pics are on my page...
Re: What has to color coordinate? (ie - invites, bm dresses, etc?)
i'm going to do whatever i feel like. as long as everything looks pretty i don't think anyone is going to notice that my invites didn't match the dresses or the linens.

You could do what you want. I matched mine to my dresses. But it is totally up to you.

Re: What has to color coordinate? (ie - invites, bm dresses, etc?)
hey thanks everyone for so many responses. i was definitely hesitant to mix it up too much but i think it was just my obsessiveness taking over.
i saw this ad for a jim hjeljm dress that is the prettiest shade of blue & that's what made me rethink everything..
Re: What has to color coordinate? (ie - invites, bm dresses, etc?)
My bridesmaids will be wearing cocoa and carrying dark red rose bouquets. My invites will match this palette. But I decided that I want my reception to be all white, ivory, with a touch of pink, mimicing my bouquet. I don't feel that a color theme has to carry out throughout the entire event. I've seen many articles on celebrity weddings and many choose to do something entirely different for reception. Christina aguilera and avril lavigne are two that come to mind. It's totally up to you!
