eating cold cuts during pregancy? My dr didn't say anything about avoiding cold cuts so I've been eating sandwiches. Did you avoid them altogether?

Oh good. Then I don't feel so bad. I've been eating mostly turkey but occasionally ham.

Re: What have you heard about.......
I have cut back on my turkey sandwiches but still have them about once a week. It's near impossible for me to not eat them at all - I'm such a picky eater!
A little something here and there won't kill us

Thanks. Its kind of hard to NOT eat cold cuts or tuna. That doesn't leave us many lunch choices.

Re: What have you heard about.......
My Dr never gave me a list of do vs do not eat, well, except sweets. He said to watch and limit the sweets. I have to honestly say that I eat everything that I have seen that is recommended not to eat, but I eat it in moderation.

Oh no. He said stay away from sweets? I have been on a chocalate kick lately. I figured it can't be too bad because I don't have any caffeine at all and so a handful of Hershey kisses can't be too bad.

Well, any empty calories make you gain weight quicker and I seem to be able to gain weight like the best of them.
Now, I didn't say that I don't eat sweets either, in fact, my husband jokes that I am passing on my family's trait of loving and eating sweets all of the time.

Lately I have been wanting chocalate and cookies. I rationalize that the cookies are good for the baby because I am having them with a big glass of milk.

Ok thanks. It seems that all drs have their different rules on whats ok and not ok. Its hard to know what we're supposed to stay away from.

Anything in moderation is fine. I do keep away from certain things, but when you want something, satisfy yourself. All dr.s have different opinions. IMO, just keep things to once a week or so. I never heard of the cold cuts either until a couple weeks ago on this board. I have eaten cold cuts, but only once in a while.

Re: What have you heard about.......
I was told that anything in moderation is fine, even tuna and bleu cheese. As far as cold cuts, he said to make sure I get them from a reputable place where they'll have the freshest meats.
I was never told anything about sweets. My baby LOVES chocolate cake and I wouldn't want to deny him that while he's hanging out in the womb.
