What holds up/looks better - whip cream or butter cream?

Based on reading a previous post, FH hates buttercream - but does it hold up better than whip cream (indoors of course)?

If the cake is whipped cream it cannot be displayed and only taken out when its time to be cut.

Butter cream holds up better...but whipped cream may be out for a little bit as long as there's AC. Why does he hate buttercream? It's delicious!

I prefer Whipped but Buttercream holds up better.

whip cream really needs to be refrigerated...buttercream doesn't.

I thought that the whipped cream would need to be refrigerated but the hall assured me it would be fine. So I am having whipped

we had whipped cream at the Westbury Manor and we had it displayed all night long. The hall said it wasn't a problem AT ALL. You should get what you like, speak to the WM and confirm but it wasn't a problem for me at all and held up the entire night.

Take it from someone who bakes a lot and makes her own buttercream frosting... buttercream is definitely better... It is of a much stiffer consistency and in my opinion, looks and holds up well.

I have been told that a cake cannot be displayed if it is whipped cream. It can only be taken out for the cutting.
