My FH's parents are giving us a timeshare in Hawaii and we were told that we are basically on a LONG waiting list. .....
So, I am wondering .....What if nothing opens?
What should be the cut off point where we should begin looking into booking into another honeymoon that WE can afford ourselves????

does it have to be hawaii or is it a timesharegroup where you can go anywhere??
I would look into other options and hae some stuff on standby

Well it is a timeshare given to us just for Hawaii....
Yeah, I guess I am wondering when I should actually BOOK the standby option if the Hawaii thing doesnt work out....
any suggestions?????????

well if you are open to a couple of different places I dont think you need to be in a rush... 2 months before?\
Maybe even ask a travel agent for opinions

are you using your parents week or did they give it up in an attempt to switch for another?
I cant see why you would be on a waiting list if you are using their week
FM me....I have a timeshare and something isnt making sense about this

I'm a little confused too. I've never heard of being waitlisted for your own week or not being able to exchange. You should ask them again about exchanging, because as great as Hawaii is, there are many other beautiful places/islands you can go to if Hawaii doesn't work out.

Well I am new to understanding this timeshare thing also.... Basically my FH parents put in the money for us to have their timeshare next year in Hawaii. They gave me the catalogue of hotels and I called up the place and they said that my name will be added to the lists of the many hotels that I gave them. So, he said when something opens up my FH's father will be called. So, until then I was going to look into other options....
