what if you don't want to give away your centerpieces

I am supplying the vases for the florist to use for the centerpieces but I want to reuse them down the road. How do I indicate that people cannot take them?

That's going to be tough. Most people expect that the centerpiece can be taken home. I guess you can tell the waiters prior to the reception ending to take out the flowers and present them to someone at the table, only thing is you would have to come up with a way to say who gets them.

I attended a wedding taht had candleabras (sp?)
as centerpieces and you could only take home the flowers around them not the hwole thing. The waiters just kind of told everyone.

At my cousins wedding... the Waiters actually took the centerpieces away... but they took all the flowers out and made bouquest for every guest... Then the vases were sent back to the florist but everyone got a nice lil bouqet, it was like 2 cala's with some greens... I thought it was really thoughful!

Thats exactly what we did. We asked our florist to come back .30 minutes before the reception ends and make a small bouquet for every guest.

yeah, our's won't do that. We are doing our own flowers for the bridal party, the only thing the florist is doing are the centerpieces and the reception ends at midnight, I'm sure he won't come back.

I guess I will have the DJ make an announcement towards the end of the night that the centerpieces are not to be taken home. LOL

I went to a wedding where someone came in and took the CPs & created little bo-ks for all the women to take home. So noone took the vases & had a cute little bo-k of lillies as another favor! Maybe ask your florist if he'd do that?

We didn't do any sort of CP giveaway, and only one person took one. She was an IDIOT, though (Who leaves early and takes a CP???)... If you don't do a giveaway thing, most people won't take them... If you see someone leaving with one, just say 'I'm so sorry, but the vases are rented and I have to give them back to the florist.' Tell your maitre'd this and s/he will stop anyone trying to escape with a CP!

We didn't say anything and no one tried to take the vases, people took the flowers from the top, but not the vases. I think most people expect that the vases are from the florist and not to be taken home.

We didn't do a giveaway but, it looked like a lot of people took the centerpieces from their tables at the end of the night. If you want to keep the vases, I'd say something or have them taken away and the flowers put into bouquets as the others above had said.

yeah thats might be tough considering people assume tht they can take the flowers at the end.
i guess u might just have to make a note saying they belong to the florist... sorry im not much help

I only saw one table where the centerpieces were taken (we had multiple vases per table), and the guests at that table aren't exactly known for... ahem... their social graces, if you will.

I don't think people generally take them unless you give them away or something.
