What is a good gift?
This might be a tacky question, but I was just wondering what amount would be good to give to my sister and FBIL for their wedding? I was thinking $1000, but some people say that is too much. Any ideas? Thanks.

if u can give (i mean afford) and you do not go broke then that amount is perfect! i think its great , fh and i ususlaly give 400-500 depending on couple and if we had siblings i would like to give them 1000
That's a very generous amount. My bro and sis-in-law gave us $500 but they also paid for my bridal shower.
I think whatever you can afford is a good gift. They are family so they should understand whatever you give.
If thats what you can afford and what you want to give then go for it. Its your sister so if anything this is somebody you would definitely give more to than just about anybody else. I know if i had a brother or sister I would. Even for our wedding BIL gave a very generous amount, he gave $1500 and he kept saying 'sorry i couldnt give more' we were both like 'ARE YOU CRAZY' that was more than enough. So i understand as a sister that you want to be generous
If you can afford it, go right ahead.
give what you can afford! If you both are new in your careers and that would be a huge dent for you, give less- they would probably feel really bad if they knew that your gift set you back a lot. If you are financially able to give that much- Im sure they would be grateful!
I agree with everyone else- give what you can afford
I agree- if you can afford it- then its a great gift- very generous. Don't break the bank though- go with what works for you.
