something that wont make my hair all nasty. I remember back in the early '90s when you would do all that stuff with your bangs, I always ended up with white residue. I know it is the color of the day, but not in my hair!

I just ran to the bathroom to check, I use Redken styling no 12. It's called airtight lock-out finishing spray (to lock out environmental stress, humidity, UV rays, pollution, etc.)
I have long straight hair, so I use it primarily to prevent flyaways.
