Not a wedding, but a bar mitzvah (for twins!!!!). How much do you think I should give? Should I give them each their own cards and gifts or one combined thing? These are relatives -- so how much for cash? Or would some sort of savings bond thing be better, that they could use when they turn 18 or whatever for college?

Re: what is a good present amount????
Are you and DH going? I'm assuming they're boys (bar, not bat...) so they won't have a Sweet 16. If it's at a place and you and DH are both going, then I would get them separate cards and give them each either $100 cash or savings bond (whichever you feel more comfortable with). Treat it like their Sweet 16!

Give separate cards and gifts.
Depending on finances, give them $118 each.
I give $100 a person, so if you are coming +1, give $218.
Thats EACH kid. $440 is a lot, so go with $118 each if finances are an issue.
Or $136 each...

I would definitely give them each their own gift and give about $150-$200 each. Especially since they're family and your DH is joining you.

Why such odd numbers you say??
(I have no idea how to reply with quote)
In the Jewish religion the number 18 means 'life' or 'Chai'.
So when jew give gift, we give incriments of Chai, hence $18, $36 etc.
You dont HAVE to, but thats what many jews do when giving gifts :)
Hope that helps.

Re: what is a good present amount????
My sisters are twins and they hated when they used to get 'combined' gifts lol. Definitely give them separate gifts...I would give at least $100 each esp since you and DH are both going.

My DH's friend did that for our wedding gift. It was really thoughtful (he explained it in the card).
