This probably won't help you much since I live in Northern VA, but just to give you an idea - for a 3 BR, 2 BA townhouse we're paying $350/yr.

it depends on square footage, age of the home, fireplaces, exterior etc etc. Your best bet is to call around - I was SHOCKED at the price difference between two of them so I knew I was getting a good deal!

Re: What is a good price for homeowners insurance?
There are many things that help to determine your homeowner's insurance rates. Size of the house is part of that, but there are many others. For instance how far are you from the water? If you are in an area that is considered a flood danger you will pay more. If you live right near the Great South Bay you will probably pay more than someone who lives near the Expressway due to the flood risk. The value of your dwelling (not including land) is part of it. You should make sure that you get a policy that covers the replacement value of your home. You will also need coverage for the contents of your home. This includes all furnishings and personal items. You also need to decide how much personal liability coverage you will want.
There are many, many variables. The best thing you can do is to get a recommendation from parents or friends who are happy with their insurance agent and then sit down with the agent and determine what the best coverage is for you.
I used to be a Property&Casualty agent, so if you have any specific questions FM me and I will do my best to answer you.
