I think it means that the quality of the pictures are not as sharp. Hi-resolution files will be more expensive.

we got 2 DVD's of our proofs in orginal file size. the proofs from my wedding are anywhere between 5MB and 11MB each, so they wouldn't all fit on a CD.

I imagine that means that you'll be getting low res images of your proofs. meaning that you couldn't enlarge them yourself to anything bigger than a 5x7.

Some do charge more for hi-res files. FH wants to get them - if he does, hes payin! I have no need for it.

our photog. gave us two: low-res and high res.

the low one is for just viewing in order to choose pics, and the high one you can print off your own pics if you own the rights.

I think the purpose of the low res cd is

ONE-- so they all fit on a cd.

TWO-- if you want to post them online, there is no way you could upload pics in such hi res.I know the online site I have would only then hold like 10 pics.

MAybe ask them to give you the orginal quality on DVD.

I dont think you will be able to tell by eye, it just limits the size of enlargements you could get made out of them.

ETA:
I am not saying that this is a GOOD thing, I think they should totally give you both, I was just thinking of the benefits of it.

They give you a low res CD to make sure you cannot upload and print the photos - they would be grainy. I would ask for high res.
