What is a Reasonable Photog Budget?

We have our first photog appt next week and we'd like to go into the meeting with a ballpark/estimated budget.

One thing we know for sure if that we don't want any videography as it's not really our style. Pictures/album are really important to us and we love lots of black and white pics. Our style also leans towards the more photojournalistic side of things.

Any thoughts?! Any tips on how/what to negotiate?

PS - Our appt next week is with ************** and we LOVE their work. They're also a preferred vendor at our RH.

I am not sure who you are meeting with, but I would say an average price that I am hearing for photo journalistic photos is around $3000 which includes basically everything). A lot of the photographers seem to work around your budget and also your needs (I need 3 parent albums and 3 grandparent albums in addition to my own album) so they work that into the pricing. I would say things to ask about other then albums are additional thank you cards, an engagement shoot, enlargements etc.

for some reason, certain vendor's names get ***d out. try spelling it with spaces in between the letters - that usually works.

as far as quotes, I've seen prices anywhere from 2,500 to 10K! photo quotes can vary drastically

ETA - the 10K might have included video

We had Perceptions for our wedding, and they were WONDERFUL! Granted, we are doing our albums on our own, but that is easy to do now a days. most of our pics are black and white, and their style is photojournalistic. Take a look at my review!

I think anywhere from 2500-4500 is what I mostly have seen for photography packages. You may be able to find photographers for a little less if you plan to do your own albums and just want the CD.

We are getting our video and photo for a total of 4,400 because we booked both and early. The videographer also threw in a free HD package!!! checkout unique visions studio.

I think with albums and no videography should run you between $3000-$4500...That's generally around what we were quoted with.

Without video I'd say around $3000. Hower if you really shop around there are photographers under that.

we spent under $2000 for the entire days coverage AND an e-shoot, with both in color and b&w. we were very very happy!! fm for more info

Thank you all so much! I totally appreciate everyone's input and I definitely have a better idea of what to expect!

The vendor that we both really really liked is Bre tt Mic hae ls ....hahahaa sorry for the weird spacing but it gets *******d out otherwise.

We had our photog budget set at $3000 and the actual price came to $2700 for exactly what we wanted... we are booked with Duet for an 11 hour day with two photogs and no albums (just printed proofs).

I'd say between 3000-6000. We're using Tw eltfth Nigh t and Miitter max (photog and video) 10 hours $4200.

we set our limit at 7k but the average is 3-5 depending what you're looking for.

Our original budget for photo and video was $5000.

In the end, we opted to go with a photobooth instead of video and are having a friend tape the ceremony etc. Altogether, we're paying $2500 with J'Adore Love--feel free to FM!
