what is a trunk show?

There is a Christos dress I want that is a little to expensive (actually my parents are buying it and willing to pay that much but I feel bad asking them to), anyway they are having a trunk show at the wedding salon in Manhasset and I was wondering if they discount dresses at them? Is it worth going?

I was told you get a chance to meet the designer and all his/her gowns are there and there is usually a discount if you buy it at the show. So....I hope that helps.

I bought my dress at the Wedding Salon of Manhasset - at a Reem Acra trunk show and they gave me 10% off - ask them!!


ETA: I would have met Reem Acra herself but i actually got the discount two days before the trunk show because my graduation was that weekend and the woman i worked with (Rosemarie - who is a doll!) said that she woudlnt expect me to come them so they let me come in earlier and see all the gorgeous reems before anyone else!
