What is an appropriate time for me to say NO more phone calls

What is an appropriate time for me to say NO more phone calls

after such hour and before such hour? FH's friends have a habit of calling at all hours of the night and morning. Saturday night I woke up at 2:30 am b/c of a phone call. Then at 8:30 my sister calls b/c she is lost on her way to PA. Well she has an excuse but she calls at that hour all the time. I already told her to give it a rest already. His basketball buddy calls around 8:30 too which is okay b/c I know they are meeting up in a bit. But when he calls again, and he will see him in 30 mminutes that is unecessary I think. Unless its an emergency the 2nd phone call lis not needed. When I have stayed at FH's house during the week, one of his friends has called quite a few times around 11:45 pm. I know its not too late but I try to go to sleep by 11. To hear that phone ring at 11:45 sets me back in my sleep. I told FH to tell these people to stop calling so early or late. I don't live with him but I stay over pretty much the whole weekend and a couple of days during the week. So in a way I think I do have a right to put my foot down. Yes, No?

There are people in everyone's life who call whenever the mood strikes. I certainly have them, and they are ANNOYING! I really feel for you.

My solution is to check the caller ID when an extremely early or late call comes in, and if it's a habitual 'wrong time' caller, I screen them out, but if it's someone who normally calls at a decent hour, I answer it, assuming it's important (and I'm usually right).

The only thing I always do is answer the phone in the middle of the night... I'd hate for someone to call me in an emergency and get my voice mail.

I have had head hunters call me at 8am and as late as 9:30pm and that is so annoying. My friends if its an emergency I dont care what time it is.

I usually dont answer the phone anytime before 10am and after 9pm. (with an exception for family and close friends)

When FI was playing softball the captain of the other team called at 5:45am I wanted to strangle him.

I agree with Melissa - 10am to 9pm are acceptable phone hours barring any emergency or pre arranged plans.

I won't even call business people at their desk at 9am because I know I DO NOT want to speak with someone as soon as I sit down to work

No offense Wanda- I do feel your pain but that is still Carl's place (for now) It is his phone and HE has to set the rules. I do think you can tell him that all of these calls interrupt your sleeping pattterns, but I do not reccommend telling him when he can and can't receive calls. When you move in- and it becomes both of you guys place- that is when you BOTH will set the ground rules.

Luckily FH agrees with me to an extent. He realizes I am a grump in the morning and being woken up in the middle of the night causes me to be extra grumpy. Especially if it isn't an emergency. For some reason this weekend I woke up at the sound of everything. I always sleep like a log.

I would go later...like 11 or 12...

but I am very used to the phone ringing at night...DH at times was on call at his last job...and it could ring anytime...I zone it out...

For personal calls I follow the 10:00am to 10:00pm rule unles its an emergency. I only call people after 8:00pm if I really need to speak to them not just to chat.

11-11 sounds like a fair time. Especially on the weekend. I get so annoyed if I am sleeping at home and my phone rings at 10:30 am. Most of the time its my sister calling me from her own line (her room is next to mine) asking me what we are having for breakfast!

id say 9 am to 11pm.... outside of emergencies
when my FIL's go to sleep they sometimes shut the ringer off for the phone in their room... that might help you

Yeah, we always shut the ringers off if we know someone always calls at an annoying time. but I just worry that there will be an emergency and I won't hear the phone ring cause it's off.

Growing up, the rule in my house during the week was no phone calls before 7 or so and none after 10 pm.

On the weekend, no calls before 10 or after 12....

worked for us!

I just had a stupid head hunter call me. yes at almost 10pm she called me.

I didnt look at caller ID because I figured it was either my mom or FI. When I heard 'is Melissa there' and I didnt recognize the voice I said nope she is not who is this. And it was a head hunter who has called me before after 9pm. I was so annoyed I told her 'nope sorry Melissa is away and wont be back till next week' and hung up on her

its almost 10pm and a head hunter calls, do these people have any respect????
