What is average to spend on a friend's shower gift?

I said $150...that's what I've generally paid, and that included in gift.

ETS: Oops...now I'm not sure what your question is. Is it for throwing the shower, or just buying a gift for a friend?

For the gift, what ever you are comfortable paying. I usually base it on my relationship to the guest of honor. More for family and close friends, less for co-workers or people I don't see too often.
