What is everyone doing today?

Working and getting tired of hearing people say 'We should have Columbus Day off' here in my office. Most think it's only fair since the Jews got a holiday that we should do. They don't care ABOUT Columbus day, they just want a day off. That I can understand, I guess.

Bah humbug. Bad enough Im one street off from the parade that celebrates this monster.



I hate this holiday. Don't even GET me started on Thanksgiving!! SACRILEGIOUS!

I love Thanksgiving.... but i know what you mean.
I just love it cuz i get to see all my family in Pittsburgh and get to have marshmallow sweet potatoes!!! (don't hate me!)

But yes, this is a silly holiday!! and I want my mail!!!

does getting yelled at by a delivery guy count as what i am doing today???

a guy delivering someone's lunch yelled at me because the girl who its for hasnt come up to pick up her lunch.

delivery man: did you leave her a message
me: yes i did you were standing right here when I did
delivery man: well try her again

Me thinking: f u! i called her 2 minutes ago.

why do delivery ppl feel the need to hover around you and watch every move you make??

wanna trade? I'm working....BLECH

I'm sitting in the lab at Hofstra and have to write two papers dur by tomorrow! Oh, I how I LOVE grad school

The only thing I like about Thanksgiving is the Football. My cowboys play EVERY thanksgiving.

I am into the 'giving thanks' idea..but being American Indian in heritiage it's tough to say 'gee look they stole our food and say we 'gave it to them' .. bastards!'

Still.. I get two days off, FH only gets that Thursday. Family was military growing up so Thanksgiving was never 'big' and when we had everyone around it was just a day to eat lots of food and watch TV.

OOoh and Im looking forward to the after Thanksgiving sales.. so I can buy fall-themed stuff for my wedding!

Columbus day is a weird conflict for me. My mother's family is from Spain. My mom was the 1st generation american. (No, I don't call myself Spanish American.. Im American dang it Texan if you must be technical).

So my mother's ancestors are the ones who paid to send columbus here and my father's ancestors are the ones who paid the ultimate price. Go figure.
