What is my theme, so I can get a dress??

I am having so much trouble right now. I'm still trying to find my dress (yes I know, I have 6 months left ) but I haven't found anything. My mom asked me, 'what are you looking for?' and I didn't have an answer. I'm beginning to think it may be because I have no clear theme to my wedding.

'Theme:' Lavender, silver, ivory, whites

That's it. I don't know if it's romantic, classy, elegant, etc. I think if I have an idea, it may help me make a decision on a dress. Any suggestions as to what my 'theme' may be???? Sounds very confusing...but I'll take any help at this point...

Thanks

ur main color is lavender which is soft/romantic, so when u go for ur dress and they ask u what are u looking for, u can say something romantic, now the questions is..what type of dress? a-line, mermaid, princess type. I personally luv mermaid dresses

I don't think you need to identify a 'theme' per se but try and determine your overall image. Are you going for hip and trendy, vintage, traditional, etc and things will start to fall into place.

For me it started with the RH and the gown. Everything else then just got tied in naturally

Your dress doesn't have to match anything.. You just need to love it! Wht types of dresses have you tried on and what types are your favorite so far?

I know my dress doesn't have to match the dress but I cannot for the life of me figure out what I want. I love a-lines and some fit and flare but I'm having trouble deciding because I don't want to second guess myself. I can at least say that I'm not confusing myself when I try on dresses but still!!!!! Why can't I be more decisive!!!!

It may help to know your venue?? If it's beachy - then flowy - to me it seems like romantic garden party....can you provide this info?

When U find THE ONE, U WILL KNOW... U WILL RECOGNIZE THE FEELING

I would suggest Start going to many stores ASAP.. Ur weddng is coming ad U need ur dress.

As soon as U find the one, STOP looking!

Another tip, TRY ON EVERYTHING!
Try the type of dress u less like to the one u love the most...
So u can actually SEE what goes great with ur body...
I try many dresses.... many styles....
Then U will know Which type goes better wiht ur body... which style looks good!

DAnielle

You and I ordered the same STD's!! But mine are blue!

I don't have any gret advice, but when I see your inspiration board, the word that comes to mind is 'gentle' for some reason. I know that's not a theme, but that[s the connoation I get. Soo... synonyms for gentle anyone?

My advise dont look at websites, magazines.... and just make an appoint with the salons and try on EVERYTHING because you may like something in a photo but 98% of the time you will either not like it in person or it may not be flattering for you. ANd sometmes those dresses that are EH on the hanger sometimes are the most stunning on you.

Romantic is what I think of---fit and flare, lace, maybe simple beading- not too much fuss.

Honestly, that is my look too! I fell in love with Paloma Blanca dresses since they all seem to be soft and romantic!

Thanks everyone!!! I'm going to, first, stop looking at bridal dresses online. Second, I'll go to as many places I can and just use the words 'romantic, elegant, a-line, fit & flare' and let the salon find a dress with that criteria. And third, I will try it on, even if I don't like it on the hanger.

I better bookmark this because I'll forget my own words...

Thanks ladies for everything!!

Definitely try things on that you wouldn't think to! This is how I found my dress!

This! My dress is everything I said I didn't want. You just need to try them on - talk to the saleslady. Mine heard everything I said - I like this but not that and so on. She would find me dresses based on what I said about the dresses I had.

Re: What is my theme, so I can get a dress??

your theme is definitely classy and elegant!

that being said...my dress has nothing to do with my theme and my dress is the exact opposite of what i wanted

I never in a million years thought id end up with the dress I chose and I tried on SO many dresses, I went to almost every bridal shop in LI and RK bridal and Kleinfelds!

the best advice I can give you is to try on allll kinds of styles, even if something doesnt look great on the hanger, try it on!!!

i said 'eh, i don think i like it' to my dress on the hanger!!! and now im in love with it! lol
