Re: what is pre cana?
in order to get married in a church you need to attend pre cana. we havent signed up for it yet but i believe it goes on for a few weeks in a row like 1 or 2 nights a week or you could choose to do it in like 2 full days...not really sure

they talk about basic principles of Catholic marriage and family life.. conflict resolution etc... basically telling you how to work things out since catholics dont recognize divorce. maybe they should call it divorce prevention 101.

I have a question, if they don't recognize divorce, why was my dad able to marry my stepmom in the Catholic Church? They are both Catholic and both were divorced...

were their first marriages in a catholic church? they probably had to go through the 'annulment' process.

one of them probably had their marriage annulled from the catholic church making their former marriage non existent. its a long process for it to finally happen
