We were going to pay $3 per person but raised it to $4 the day of our wedding. He was FANTASTIC and we couldn't have been happier with his help.
I arranged all the tip envelopes the day before and took extra money in case I wanted to add more.

We were told 1-2 dollars per guest as well.
I'm figuring on bringing 1.50 per person in the main envelope and bumping that up if he does an exceptional job.
I'm putting together basic envelopes for each tip and keeping an 'extra' envelope in case one of our vendors does an above and beyond job for us.

well, this 'service fee:' is tio include gratuitys it says....my contract says all gratuities included...we won;t be givign any more than $1.00 per head.

I think it also depends on how many people you are having.
$3 a person ain't too bad if you only have 50 guests. But if you have 200+ guests... that adds up to over $600 tip!
I am thinking $2 a head is acceptable. Right in the middle.

I have a question about the gratuity: When we booked our hall we were told the price per person + 15% gratuity +sales tax. Now I know you have to tip the maitr' d but where does that 15% gratuity go? Is there anyone else you have to tip besides the bridal assitant?
