What is that french word for diamond dust? Pivet? Puvet?
I wanted a wedding band that had the diamond dust on it. I know there is a word for it.
Can you help me? I know it starts with a P. Pivet? Peve?

It's definitely pave but it's most certainly not diamond dust.

it means 'paved' - they're not dust, they're little tiny diamonds - i call them diamond chips, but depending on the size, they look like very small round cut diamonds

I don't know that much about jewelry. I know what it looks like and know that is what I want for my wedding band.
Is it not dust? I guess I should say it's small tiny diamonds?

very tightly set stones,it is a gem setting technique in which the stones are set low and very closely spaced, so that the surface appears to be paved with gemstones. Most commonly seen with diamonds, but may be used with any stone.

Yep, pave (sounds like pah-vay)
It's when they put small round stones closely together in a setting so that it looks like it's paved with diamonds.

My bands are pave and they really are small round cut diamonds. In fact, they are cut with the same # of facets as big stones. With pave, it is the workmanship, not the size of the stones, that can drive up the cost (the # of stones may also be a factor b/c it takes so many). I have heard that if it is not done well, stones can fall out easily.
