What is the best way to mail food?

I am sending peanut butter cookies to Ray in Chicago.
Thanks!

I would just put them in a tin and than put the tin in a box and mail them through the post office.

Put lots of paper or bubble wrap in the box around the tin, so the tin doesn't bounce around in the box.

Not sure if this is the answer you are looking for..but that's how I would do it..

Cookies should be fine in a tin in a box & I would send priority just for the heck of it (even though it's usually just a day quicker I've found).

I would put the cookies in a ziploc container (the disposable kind) to keep them fresh and prevent them from breaking. Then just put them in a box, and send away!

Julz-
I have also been told to put a slice of bread in with cookies. It absorbs the moisture, so the cookies don't get stale or yucky.

I agree with the ziplock. Plus, it will prevent friction of the cookies against the tin- you will get lots of crumbles without the ziplock!

You are a good wife...

This is the absolute truth. If you pack them in a tupperware (lose the tin--no need to be fancy, he only cares about THE COOKIES anyway!)
and you add a a few pieces of bread--any kind, the cookies will stay nice for days!

Send them overnight (UPS or FedEx) IMO, it would be worth it.

When FH is in training, I send him cookies in the tupperware or ziplock containers. They work great and can keep for days. If you can bubble wrap the containers to help prevent the cookies from breaking. I always overnight them though.

Thanks for the tip about the bread - I'll remember that for next time.

My college roomie's mom used to send us cookies all the time in a ziploc container padded with packing paper, then placed in a shoebox. There was never breakage!

I've never heard about the bread thing. That's good to know.
