i think under renovation or construction if im not mistaken or confusing the place for another. this was what they told me when i was looking to book few months back.
They were caught doing something illegal. They are blaming their closing on mayor bloomberg as it is a city owned building...but the papers say there are mob ties etc.

the city shut them down...supposedly they are re-opening elsewhere

actually they closed down on New years day, not their choice but the city closed them down. Now they are giving the ownership to some other restaurant corporation. Its sad bc i read the article why they closed them down and dont think its fair.
However Caffe on the green owner said he will open up his business elsewhere
