Why would I need to purchase this? Is it really worth it?

Re: What is the deal with traveler's insurance?
God forbid you get sick and need to get a helicopter to the hospital you would have to pay for that out of pocket. Most insurances don't cover you if you are out of the country. It also covers you if you miss your flight and things like that.

Yeah... I was always under the impression that insurance was for hurricanes and stuff. But it does not cover acts of God at all. It covers any medical you may need, like if FI gets a fish hook through his hand or you snorkel too close to fire coral or you need dramamine from first aid. Also, if you have to cut your trip short due to a death or medical emergency back home, you will be reimbursed for the rest of the trip.
We thought it was very minimal and worth it.

its def a good thing! it protects you from all trip cancellations, health care, or any emergencies that you would never expect may arise... i have a perfect example --my fiance and i went skiing at okemo last weekend and mom got rushed to the hospital so b/c i declined the $40 coverage they wouldnt give me the money back for the room for the next 2 nights and we lost out on over 800 !!!
