What is the difference between this site and

UW, the Knot, or Wedding Channel? My engaged friends were raving today about UW... I've never been on anything but this!!! Is their a difference?

I personally like LI Weddings better because I think it is easier to navigate. All the other wedding websites confuse me.

LIWeddings is by far the best for local recommendations. UW and TheKnot are good for more general ideas.

I agree. Everytime I try to find something on WC, I get completely lost. I think those sites are better for pics and stuff, but this site has the BEST boards!!!

I hate the knot! There can be some nasty cat fights on there. UW is really good - everyone has their own journal so everyone can go into huge detail with their plans and all.
LIW is the best for local stuff!

i can't handle the knot and the wedding channel.. they're so confusing and slow. i really like UW .. i think its the easiest to use and most helpful generally. but LIW is definitely the best when it comes to local recommendations and suggestions.

I personally think this site is user friendly. I do like Theknot and The Wedding Channel because they have better artical and pics.

I was banned from UW for having a different opinion on the 2nd amendment from the owner....in the thread labeled 'politics and opinions'

I was told I was a troublemaker...so for one post I was banned...with no attention to my 1 1/2 years...and 3 journals...

be careful...they also look on other websites...and ban you if you say anything about them...

I can't even get on UW! I tried several times but I'm always denied access. Oh, well, I don't want to be on their boards anyway! This site is so much easier to get around, and much friendlier. I find the Weddingchannel.com to be helpful for vendors in the city, but people on the message boards there can be nasty.

I have never been on UW or WC (don't even know what that is) but I don't really like the knot b/c when you reply to a post it doesn't get bumped. I LOVE Liweddings (obviously)

I only used this and UW. This is the only one I became addicted to. UW was definitely great for ideas but I love this site because you the people are local. This site is more of a 'community'.

I used to be on WC before I found this site. I had a journal over there, but could never find the time to keep it up.

In general, WC is good, but I think it's geared to more the 'city' bride. UW is all over the place, and I find it much to hard and way too confusing for anything. Can't way I ever really used the knot at all.

LIWeddings is the best for local sources of information. And the ladies here are by far more friendlier!

i found the knot and UW to be too broad, I think the brides on there are from all over the country - I signed on to the knot but then got frustrated and came back here.

LI Weddings is the best, I never found information on the other websites as easily as thing one. Plus, like the other girls said it is very slow. Sometimes I look at the Knot but just wind up get frustrated!

The difference is the people - if you ask me! I tried The Knot and WC and UW and I liked them fine, but the people here are what makes the difference for me! Since I found LI Weddings, I rarely go back....

I got ignored on the knot when I first posted there so I bailed. F*** 'em. I came here and everyone was so sweet and offering up suggestions right away and never treated me like a newbie. UW is totally overwhelming - I could not for the life of me figure out how to navigate that site. And like someone else said, this site is priceless for local recommendations. I got my headpiece, flowers and hall all based on recs I got here.
