I'm not sure but IMO the ushers at my wedding will be basically handing out programs, unrolling the aisle runner, seating family members, and making sure everything is going the way it should. My GM walk down the aisle with BM but again this is what I'm doing.

This is what we are doing too. Ushers will be people who greet people as they come in. They will escort every woman to a seat. The groomsmen will be in the bridal party and escort the bridesmaids.

I found this:

'The usher’s primary job is to seat guests at the wedding. .....The ushers also attend all pre-wedding parties the groom attends. They are not expected to give gifts at each one. They may participate and co-host the bachelor party. ......During the reception, ushers may sit at the head table, but do not stand in the receiving line. They may be announced after the best man and honor attendant to the guests. .......Their main job during the reception is to mingle with the guests and dance with unescorted women.'
