... people who want to come to your ceremony when it is at your RH?
My best friend (and MOH!)'s parents want to come see me get married, seeing as I've known them for 12 years at this point! However, FH and I are getting married at the RH in their ceremony room. Is it in poor taste to have people come to the RH for the ceremony and then not come to the reception?
I never even thought about this possibility ... obviously they know they will not be invited to the reception, but they do want to come to the ceremony. Not sure where to go with this one.
TIA!

Can you add 2 additional people and just invite them to your reception too?

Yes I agree... I think its bad etiquette to have someone come to the ceremony and then leave.. if you were getting married at a church it would be different, IMHO

Both Fh and I are teachers and would love for our students to be able to come to the ceremony,.. We spoke to the RH and they said people do this all the time. I don't think it is in poor taste if people want to come and see you get married and then leave. We are planning to do this with our students and coworkers that we can not invite.

I think so too, but I still want them there! Not sure that I want them at the reception though (nothing against them, just cost issues!), but I never even thought about people who might want to see the ceremony. Darn. I don't know ...

i think it all depends if they know they r not invited...if they know and just want to come then i dont see the harm..leave it up to them..if they think they r coming then i dont know

Re: What is the etiquette for ...
i know we both have coworkers who want to watch us get married...and i dont mind doing it this way, cause we cant afford to have everyone and their mother come to the reception.
my RH said it wouldnt really be a problem if the ceremony is outside..especially since if outside, it would technically be in a nassau county park.the only thing is that they put out enough chairs for the amount of people that will be there... im sure id be able to ask them to squeeze a few more chairs in, especially if im under my minimum (which i think i will be)

I personally think it's only 2 people and you sound close to them - so invite them to your wedding. It's a completely different story if you were getting married at a different location. It's also totally different for teachers who are inviting their students to the wedding. I think, if you want these 2 adults to see your ceremony, suck it up and invite them to the wedding. I'm sure they'll give you a nice gift. Plus, there's no possibility of it being weird or socially awkward when they're leaving and everyone else is heading to the CH.

I would just invite the two extra people being that you have known them for so long, I am sure that they would be honored to come. I feel that it is in poor taste to invite people to the ceremony that will not be invited to the reception because the ceremony is the most important part of the day!
