what is the most Romantic restaurant you can think of?

the kind of place where one would want to go for dinner to celebrate the 1st wedding anniversary...

Tupelo Honey in Seacliff is pretty romantic, or my all time favorite One if by Land, Two if by Sea...

I was also gonna suggest One if By Land, Two if by Sea…

Savoy in SoHo is also very nice…

Savoy in Soho (on Prince St.)! It's so yummy and SOOO romantic!

Here is a review:

'A marvelously decorated and designed interior helps keep Savoy quietly filled to capacity. Tulips in wooden boxes brighten the exposed-brick downstairs area, while a cozy--as in six tables--upstairs dining room serves a special four-course chef's menu. During winter, servers roast meats and caramelize creme brulees over the fireplace.'

I would totally agree with Cafe des Artistes & March but have to disagree with Balthazar...
While I enjoy the food there....the atmosphere is ANYTHING BUT romantic...

Thank you ladies! That really helps! I KNOW DH is doing some reaserch in private ( I cought him at at, but he dones't know ), but I though I would give it a try as well!

I have never been to Balthazar but I heard that the tables there are so tight, you are practicly on top of the people next to you! thats' not so romantic!

EXACTLY....and the dining area is pretty big and acoustics are terrible so it's really loud too....
It's just not a place I would see going to for an anniversary dinner (or any romantic occasion for that matter)

Good point, but I really have no desire to ever go back to Milleridge Inn! it 's an OK place, but once was enough! I will just be reminded of everything that went wrong at the wedding, if I go there now!

May be in 10 years!

Another vote for One If By land Two If By Sea!!

The ambience is incredible, and so is the food (and the service!)!

Maybe you want to find someplace small and quaint that not many people know of. Someplace off the beaten track.

I'd go with River Cafe, great view, great food, great service.

DH and I weren't impressed by One if by Land, TIBS... The tables were too close, if you came for a later seating, the waiters were busy and it took longer to get food.

We went there for restaurant week, and while paying $30 was reasonable, I wouldn't have wanted to pay full price given the quality of food... It just didn't stand up to the $$.

I do think they have a nice bar area and good for a few nice martinis in a cosy atmosphere.

I LOVE Tupelo Honey!!

I disagree with One if by Land, Two if by Sea.. I totally disliked it all the items I'vee ever been there...I think it's overrated..

Marcella, I LOOOOVe Chez es Saad! BUt i used to frequest it with a guy I dated before DH, so it probably isn't a good idea!

And regarding the TIBL, I heard A LOT of negative comments about the place.. It 's seems it is over-rated...
