I am getting married at the end of April and my sister is planning my shower for January? Too early? Too late? Perfect time?

I think about 8 weeks before the wedding is a good time.

Mine was three months before. I know people that have had them 6 months before and people that have had them two weeks before. I don't think there is any set time that they need to be.

I think it also depends on the living situation of the couple. You & FH live together, so if you have your shower in Jan, you can just take everything home & start using them.

I don't think there is a 'normal' time...we're getting married in August and we're doing all of our parties about 2 months apart from each other I wanted to get the guests into a wedding mode...We got engaged April of 2003 and we kept our guests waiting exactly 1 year before we let any news out of the bag. When we decided to, we wanted everything quick and smooth. By April of 2004 all of our plans were finalized. We have had no interference from any family or friends!!!

That's when we've usually had them in my family. I'm getting married in April too and I assume my shower will be the end of January, beginning to middle of February.

Since I am getting married in Feb., my mother wants to do it before the holidays. I will probably have it the beginning of Nov.

Mine is July 24... the wedding is Sept 24. So 2 months before for me!
