My friend who was my MOH, is in a wedding coming up and she feels umcomfortable that she is walking by herself. I told her there is an official name for when the bridal party is uneven, does anyone know what it is called??? My MOH says it is called bad...
What suggestions would you give to the bride of how she should handle the walking in of the girls, so that my MOH does not feel out of place being the only one not walking in without someone??

Re: What is the official term
Have all the guys stand at the alter and then they all the girls walk down together.

Re: What is the official term
My bridal party is going to be uneven so we are having two guys walk one girl down the aisle. I see this all the time. Hope this helps. I do not know what the official term is. Sorry!

Re: What is the official term
can't one guy walk with two girls? one on each arm? Or two girls walk down together - I've seen that and it looks nice as well.
I had an uneven bridal party, but only my MOHs walked alone. They walked back each holding on to an arm of the BM.

Re: What is the official term
I've been in a couple of uneven wedding parties and the brides just had some of the guys walk with two girls. It looks fine and believe me it's a lot better than walking down alone!
Tell your friend - Good luck!

Hubby had 2 best men, so my MOH walked down with two guys...she was NOT complaining

Re: What is the official term
You might be thinking of a Kings wedding, where there are no bridesmaids and mostly ushers. I've never been to a wedding like that before. I have seen weddings where there were a few more groomsmen than bridesmaids and they just pair 2 guys with a girl or vice versa.

I thought the maid of honor always walks alone because the best man is supposed to be standing with the groom at the alter.

Re: What is the official term
The MOH always walks down by herself, the BM is always at the alter. In the recessional they walk together.
Tell her this is fine.

I'm having the MOH walk down the aisle by herself and walk back up it with the BM.

That's always what I thought too.

Re: What is the official term
A King's Court wedding is when the bride only has a maid or matron of honor, but the groom has several ushers/groomsmen.

Re: What is the official term
I have seen it when all the guys work in a line, and then the girls come in individually even when there are even numbers. it was pretty and gave everybody a cople of seconds in the spotlight.

Re: What is the official term
All the weddings I've been at, all the BMs walk in alone and the groomsmen are all standing at the altar. On the way out, if it's uneven, the BM or GM would walk with two guys or girls. I think it's very common.

Re: What is the official term
I thought the MOH always walked in alone - isn't her partner, the BM, already at the altar with the groom??

Re: What is the official term
Yes in the Catholic tradition the MOH always walks in the church alone. The groomsmen escort the bms (they can escort two at once if preferred)
