none, its just decorative. And I guess maybe it prevents your dress from dragging on the floor.

I'm getting married outside (weather permitting) so I'm having an aisle runner so that my train doesn't get dirty on the ground.

I would check with your limo company, a lot of them provide it.

Now my dress will get dirty.

I just liked the look of it. My limo company didn't provide it, but my hall did.

The aisle of my church is carpeted, so I don't need one - right?

I decided not to get one because you will see step marks indentation (because it's carpet underneath) when people walk on it. And that will not look good in the photos.

We arent allowed to have one according to church rules and liability of people tripping and getting hurt. The aisle has carpet, so I guess that will be good enough

Just an FYI - your dress WILL get dirty - no matter what. I had my dress off the floor a majority of the time, and it still got filthy - people step on it, things fly in the air, and drinks will be mopped up by your dress.

The aisle runner is decorative, but it does not prevent dirty on your dress.

I'm not getting one either for this reason. I've also heard that they can be slippery and since I'm a total clutz, I don't want to do a face-plant on my way down the aisle!

Mine didn't either--no worries, dress was fine!!! It will get dirty during the day from everything though...

I'm not using it b/c my church aisle is small, and filled with stuff, so it can't be spread out flatly!
