So I come to find out last night, that apparently my Aunt is mad/annoyed because FH and I are getting married on her anniversary. Oh, I'm sorry I didn't realize people's anniversary's were off limits to have a wedding. If anything I would expect maybe she would be honored. However, this is the mother of the cousin I am having issues with so should I really be all that surprised?

So strange that an adult would care about something so insignificant! How immature! I would say it would be nice to have a little announcement at your reception to wish them a happy anniversary, but with her attitude, I would say forget it!

WHAT!! Thats nuts. People should just be happy with your decision. Im sorry you have to deal with those things. I know we all do, but its really bad espesially around the holidays

I was going to do this. Say happy anniversary to them and one of my friends who also got married on Labor day weekend in 06 (and I asked her if she minded that I used her wedding weekend and she said 'I could care less'). Anyway, now that I hear my Aunt is being like this, I might just have to have an announcement to say happy anniversary to my friend and her hubby and thats it. I am sure that would REALLY piss her off.

im sorry to hear that. i dont think people realize how hard it is to pick a date that works with your price range, and the seaon you want. labor day is a popular weekend! she shouldnt expect to be the only one in the whole family to get married at the beginning of september! plenty of people in my family have gotten married on cousins birthdays, wedding anniversarys, etc. no one gets mad because the person doing it always makes an announcement and life goes on. i dont see why it should be such a big deal! life is to short to get mad at stuff like this, i think youre aunt should let it go, and feel honored and you shouldnt worry about it!

Families can be annoying. My aunt doesn't believe in a registry so she's having a fit I'm registered at 3 places. She perfers to buy her own gift - no one is forcing her to buy off the registry so I don't get it but good luck with your fam!

thats crazy , i ignore people like that and honesltly try to deal with them as little as i have to, i just dothe minimal talking when its needed. dont let her get to you

I think that your aunt should be honored... if anything... to be able to go to her niece's wedding on the anniversary of her own... don't let it bother you...

Thanks girls. I am trying not to let it bother me, but she is one of those people who would have something to say no matter what. I am going to a party-lite party tonight and she is going to be there. I haven't seen her since we go engaged, so I am hoping she doesn't say anything about the wedding, or else I am just gonna say 'I know I am a horrible person, what was I thinking having my wedding on your anniversary' in a sarcastic way of course.

That's ashame! I am finding out that there is way too much pettiness in wedding planning because there is always someone that isn't happy. My best advice: You can't make everyone happy. It's your day and you shoudn't let these family members spoil it.
