Not the greastest at all :( not the beach i remember from when I was young. NO ONE cleans up after themselves.

I went to Lido yesterday and it was so crowded. Literally people on top of people. I had someone set up their blanket at my feet. Then another crowd was expanding as the day went on at my head. At one point, they were set up around me. Someone asked if they wanted some pretzels and I said yes. I had some teenagers from the same group making out next to me. If I extended my elbows out from my chair I would have hit them..then the garbage they left behind..

Nope, I haven't been to Jones in a while because of just that..now my little town beach of Lido is turning too...very sad..

wow im not missing much. i live in CT now and we go to the beaches on the LI sound. I miss the big waves but at this beach, i can spread my blanket out and not be within feet of someone else.
:( sorry to hear that the beach has become more of a hassle than an enjoyment.

I HATE Jones Beach...imo the crowd is nasty...I don't need to hear club music blaring in my ear in one direction and hip hop coming from another...the garbage that people leave behind is disgusting...you can't even lay your blanket down without someones garbage there...the last time I was there, there was a couple having sex right underneath their towel...it was lewd and disgusting and they could care less that the people around them could easily see what they were doing...we packed up and left...I head to Long Beach...the parking ***** but at least you can relax...

Robert Moses is okay in the early morning...but by 10:30 it's crowded, and people have no beach ettiquete, there is plenty of space, but they are right on top of you, and their horrible kids kick sand onto your blanket, yesterday this guy actually set up his umbrella and it shaded our chairs, and he got huffy when we asked him to move it.

I am not a beach person much these days but I will tell you what offends me the most at the beach
SMOKERS!!!
Notihng is nastier than the smell of cigarettes when you are on the beach on a beautiful day. It makes the experience gross.

I got a pool for these very same reasons; people are just too damn nasty for words.
Litter everywhere, the obnoxious teens, the gross people who are over-exposing themselves. One chick was massaging her boyfriends goodies (hand in his pants and all) right in front of a bunch of kids. Can it wait??

I know, I agree, the crowds have gotten worse on Jones beach. I highly recommend going to fields 3, 2 if it's open, they are a lot less crowded, but go early - before the major crowds. I'm usually there by 11:30 or 12:00 the latest, and I'm gone by 3:00ish, it's much more enjoyable.

I'm too pale to go to the beach but maybe once a year I do. Kepp in mind I am no supermodel either...lol.
I stopped going to Jones Beach about 15 years ago. Nothing like relaxing on a blanket with just you and one other person, then... A TRIBE INVADES!!! Who are these groups of 20 plus people... volleyball net, annoying music, kids running amuck, enough food to feed a continent and metabolically challenged people who should NOT be wearing the tiny bathing suits they are wearing! Oh yeah, and the cursing and smoking.
Thank God I stopped going long before the THONG craze... hald the men and women in them have no business wearing them...UGH!
In recent years is been TOBay beach only for me!

I have had the same exact problem at Robert Moses lately. Especially on the weekends. During the week is a little bit better. I try to get there no later than 10:00. By 2:00 I'm like get me away from these people!!! Sometimes there is plenty of space a little further away, but for some reason a big, loud group with lots of kids playing with the sand (throwing it all over) always insist on sitting right on top of us. I just don't get it!!

I head to Long Beach...the parking ***** but at least you can relax...
My FH's family is there every summer and I went a few weeks ago. The water was ugly, parking did suck, but the crowd was a lot better. I had a good time.
