So Anthony and I got an apartment (as you know) We bought a kitchen table from Ikea on Monday.. my mother criticizes it.. telling us we paid too much & its too 'plain' Thanks ma...
Then yesterday we went to Jersey to buy our living room set. We bought a nice leather sofa in a sand color that has 2 recliners.. and a rocking recliner chair. We couldn't get the loveseat because there is just no room for it in our living room. We also got 2 end tables & a coffee table. I tell my mom when I got home & sent her pics I found of them on the internet last night ... What does she do?

Why didn't you buy the loveseat? Why did be buy such a light couch? Looks small.. bla bla bla blaBLA!!!
Top it off.. she has to call me the minute I get to my desk here at work.
Then she hangs up on me because she said IM GETTING NASTY

Awe... Im sorry. My sister is like that sometimes and we go at it. I've learned to rub it off, even though thats a challenge. She complained about my leather couches also and was like why did you get leather blah blah.
Dont let her bring you down, you have a nice apt., I am sure beautiful furniture and in a week we will be in DD's. Our wedding is almost here!!Yay

Congrats on the new furniture!!! It sounds great! Maybe your mom is upset because in the back of her mind she's realizing that with you buying furniture and getting an apartment that you really ARE getting married. Maybe it hadn't really hit her before. As for all the questions, I think that's just what mom's do!

As long as you are happy with what you and FH picked out, that's all that matters. It's your home and your life!
Your mother sounds like mine when I moved out - it's just hard letting go, sometimes.
Give her some space and don't talk for a while to let things simmer down and she'll hopefully be calmer next time around.

Don't sweat it. This stuff is for YOUR apartment not hers. Mothers can always be a PITA about stuff like that-I went thru it too.

Honestly, DONT WORRY about it! It is your apartment and not your mothers...I think they sometimes want us to lead THEIR lives...it was your and Anthony's decision to purchase this type of furniture and of course she is entitled to her opinion but just leave it at that...dont take it personally sweetie...I didnt talk to my mom that often when Mike and I first moved in...we had a rough time getting assimilated and I just wanted to keep her out of EVERYTHING altogether...then little by little we got very close...
