The budget question.
Well I made a budget and have gone over the budget. Best thing to do is meet the the most vendors that you can and compare prices and reviews from other members on here. I was at a budget of $20K with my honeymoon after doing shopping around get quotes etc... The wedding would have ended up costing us about $32K with the vendors I wanted, so I have decided to meet with other vendors..... The more you shop around the better seriously.........
I would also suggest you do a lot of homework with the wedding espically if you want it to be the perfect day.
I am going to do a lot of DIY (Do it yourself) projects. I think it will be alot of fun....
If you every have any questions along the way everyone on this site is willing to help.

we dont so much have a budget as we have a number we would like to stay under and a specific amount we have to work with, which is a difference of about 20k

Right now the guest list is just over 200. We don't have a specific budget but we'd like to stay under 25k. I would really like to make the centerpieces and favors. I might make the bows for the church too, idk yet.

Well I finally have time to answer my own question. We'd really like to stay under 20,000. We are having approx 75 guests. Since I havent booked my RH I havent really looked into other things. Id like to keep my invitation costs low. And probably only spend $1500 on flowers.
How much do DJ's cost? I really have no idea.

we are aiming for under 20k. Right now, I have it figured to be around 17.2k without Honeymoon, and doing invites and such ourselves

Just like any vendor the price of DJs vary. It will depend first on if you just want a DJ or a DJ and MC. Also, if you want giveaways, flatscreen tvs, a percussionist, etc. I've gotten a few different quotes so far. For the lower end you can probably get just a DJ for 1500 or so, depending how much you want I think the general cost is anywehre between 2000-4000 plus tip.

We are aiming for 20k, not really sure if we will be able to keep it to that. I know FH is really trying to keep to that number. I really hope not to go over 25k

Wow we all have similar budgets. Sorry to hijack the thread but ... FI and I settled on 20K, and we have 3K so far and the rest we will save for in the forthcoming years. I think 20K might be too much for what we want to do. We will be 22 and 24 when the wedding rolls around and I don't think that 20K is realistic. I mean we only want to have maybe around 100 guests, ceremony and RH together thus eliminating limos, DIY everything we possibly can. We even want to get rid of the open bar idea potentially decreasing the pp cost significantly. What do you ladies think is a good budget for me?

im already at $27k just for my hall. I havent even looked at djs, flowers, etc. i wanted to be under 30k but i dont see that happening. thats why I am getting married in 2010 i cant come up with that money that fast. we have over 230 people andno way to cut down. Ugh stress

Prices for them vary, FM entertainment was the cheapest I''ve seen so far!

What is your budget? Our Budget is about 28k...I sat down and thought that was reaslistic
How many people are you expecting? We guaranteed 125 people and the room only holds 170...I think that our guest list is going to have to be cut...But the people cut are the friends of our parents...and being that they arent paying for it...I really dont mind!
RH? We are having our reception at Chateau Briand...I love it there!
Ceremony? St. Benedict Joseph (church in Richmond Hill, Queens)
DJ? Pretty sure we are going to use Music Flex, he was really reasonable for out e-party so we will probably book him right after that!
Limos? No Clue!! Photo? Most likely DUET!
Cake? The cake is included in our hall.
Flowers? I havent even begun to look into that.
Invitations? Probably going to order them online and print them myself.
